Keep reading to find out what they are!
1. Neon Tetras
The Neon Tetra is extremely easy to care for, which makes them ideal for beginners. Ideally, you want to keep them in a group of five or six as they are schooling fish.
However, they can also be kept with other similar-sized non-aggressive fish.
2. Guppies
Guppies come in a variety of colors, with males being more vibrant than females. Not only are they peaceful, but they can also adapt to various water conditions.
The only thing is that they tend to breed with each other if the genders are kept together in the same tank.
3. Betta Fish
Betta fish, also known as the Siamese fighting fish, have elaborate fins, which come in a variety of colors and patterns. They’re also easy to care for. For one thing, they don’t require as much space as other fish; you can keep them in a tank as small as 2.5 gallons.
Just give them some plants to hide in and they’ll be happy. For example, you can add some marimo balls, which are actually a form of Macroalgae. You can learn more about them at this link.
4. Zebra Danios
The Zebra Danios is a small fish that grows up to 5 to 7 cm. Aside from flake food, they also enjoy eating worms, insects, and crustaceans.
Similar to tetras, they must be kept in groups, otherwise, they can become stressed. Also, it’s important to keep the tank covered as they’re known for jumping out.
5. Platies
Platies are colorful livebearers with short bodies and wide tails. Peaceful and friendly, they usually thrive well in community tanks. For example, many people keep them with guppies and mollies.
While they can survive in smaller tanks, it’s best to keep them in at least a 30 gallon.
6. Mollies
Mollies are small and easygoing. They prefer warm and hard water, though they’re very adaptable. They also do well with other non-aggressive fish.
Kept in a healthy environment, they can live for up to five years.
